Wicken
Fen
A window into the lost landscape of the undrained fens, Wicken Fen lets you get close to wildlife all year round.

One of Europe's most important wetlands, Wicken Fen has recorded more than nine thousand species, including rare butterflies, dragonflies, birds and plants. It is an undrained fenland with open water and a wealth of wildfowl and waders. Wicken Fen also boasts excellent disabled access with a 3/4-mile circular boardwalk on Sedge Fen, with access to two bird hides. All buildings are ground floor, with no steps.
In addition, the wooden working wind pump and traditional fen cottage provide an insight into the social history of the fens. There are family events and trails on offer all year. In the summer months, experience Wicken Fen from their traditional boat tours. Eating facilities include a cafe that seats 30 inside, plus outside tables.
